Experience My health manager
Welcome
NICK:
Get ready to experience Kaiser Permanente’s My Health Manager, a collection of secure, online features that gives you access to your doctor and your health information, all in one safe and convenient place.
Feature 1: E-mail my doctor’s office
KATHERINE:
I consider my doctor to be my partner in my family’s health. The E-mail my doctor feature helps make this partnership work for all of us.
I can send a private message to my doctor and expect a reply within a couple of days. When my doctor answers, I get a notice in my regular e-mail account. Then I can read my doctor’s message in my password-protected mailbox on kp.org, where I know it’s secure.
Between my husband, my two kids, and my growing business, time is scarce. When I talk to my doctor, I want to make it count—and My Health Manager makes it easy to stay in touch.
Feature 2: Act for a family member
KATHERINE:
My son has asthma, and my father has a heart condition.
With Act for a family member I can view portions of their medical history, such as my son’s immunization records. I can send questions to my son’s pediatrician, just as I would send a message to my own doctor. I can monitor my father’s medication, refill my son’s prescription inhalers, and even see lab test results, like my father’s latest blood test.
My Health Manager not only saves me time; it helps me better manage my family’s health.
Feature 3: Pharmacy center
MARIA:
Recently I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Now that I am checking my condition every day, it’s very important for me to follow my doctor’s advice and make sure I always have the medication I need.
The Pharmacy center in My Health Manager lets me refill a prescription without standing in line. All I need to do is enter the number on the bottle and my refill is mailed to me with free shipping.
I can also send a secure e-mail to a pharmacist at any time, learn how my medicine works and prepare myself for side effects. This peace of mind helps me feel better about taking my medication and about my condition in general.
Feature 4: My test results
KATHERINE:
For me, a big part of staying healthy is about getting results—in this case, test results. When I go to my test results, I can find out when my tests were ordered, get general information about a type of test, and, of course, view the results. Kaiser Permanente keeps my personal information private, using high standards of online security.
The test results feature is just one part of a comprehensive electronic medical record that I can view whenever I like. In My medical record, I can see details about allergies, immunizations, and view a summary of my current health information.
Feature 5: Appointment center
NICK:
Like a lot of people just starting out, I have about a million better things to do than worry about doctor appointments or the details of my health plan. I want to manage my health care the same way I manage my bank account—with fast, secure access to the information I need and online tools that I can use anytime.
I like the Appointment center because I can schedule or cancel a non-urgent appointment with my doctor anywhere I have access to the Internet, and it only takes a minute. Even better, it keeps a list for me of any upcoming visits, so I won’t forget.
I’ve been checking out some other features on kp.org. My girlfriend and I are trying to get healthier, together, and there’s great information on the site about programs that can help you lose weight, quit smoking, or manage stress; details about health classes in our area; and even a symptom checker. We haven’t actually had anything to worry about yet—but it helps to know there are a bunch of cool online tools available to help me if I need them.
Feature 6: Past office visit info
MARIA:
The past visit information feature lets me look back at my appointments and track my health history.
I click on the date and time to see which tests were ordered or which medicines my doctor prescribed during that visit. I can even check my vitals on that particular day—pulse, weight, and blood pressure. As I look after my health, I have come to rely on My Health Manager to get information whenever I want, wherever I want.
