Our Work

Clinical Programs and Quality Improvement

We share quality improvement and chronic disease management strategies to improve the health of people in underserved communities. Our quality improvement grants help safety net organizations make critical program upgrades to electronic patient registries that streamline the delivery of medical care. Scholarships for doctors and nurses working in public hospitals and community health centers ensure that information about the newest advances in patient safety and quality are delivered to as many people as possible, improving care for patients.

Fighting heart disease with ALL you've got

Heart disease isn't an even-handed killer. It strikes some ethnic groups with a disproportionate impact. In San Diego County, we implemented a Kaiser Permanente treatment protocol called "ALL" targeted to those patients most prone to cardiovascular death. ALL stands for Aspirin, Lisinopril, and Lovastatin and clinical studies show it to be effective in reducing cardiovascular risk. It is projected that over a three-year period, these patients will suffer 40 fewer heart attacks and strokes, saving the health care system at least $4 million in expenditures. Learn how ALL is making a difference in San Diego County »
