The health of individuals intertwines with the health of communities. It’s part of Kaiser Permanente Northwest’s mission to improve not just our members’ health but also the health of the communities we serve. You could say this long-standing commitment is part of our DNA.
Through research, grant programs, employee giving campaigns, and volunteerism, we aim to make real and lasting change. Our community contributions focus on five broad categories: care and coverage for low-income people, safety net partnerships, community health initiatives, developing and disseminating knowledge, and civic engagement.
In 2010, our contributions to the community totaled nearly $120 million. This included more than $79 million in care and coverage for low-income people. It also included more than $37 million for medical education and research. In addition, we gave several million dollars to support various community health initiatives, safety net partnerships, and community events.
Learn more about our regional initiatives through this website and by reading our annual report under “Northwest Quick Links” to the right. Check back for our 2011 Community Annual Report in early spring 2012.
