Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit, Northern Cali

San Francisco

In addition to providing health care and coverage for low-income people, Kaiser Permanente's community investments include grants, sponsorships, and volunteerism. Kaiser Permanente San Francisco supports nonprofit organizations located in and serving the City and County of San Francisco.

Grants

Our grantmaking supports projects that address the following local priority areas:

1. Reduce obesity rates in children and adults

  • Increase consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Increase physical activity in community settings (e.g., safe walking, bicycling, swimming, and other physical activities)
  • Increase physical activity in institutional settings (e.g., school, afterschool sites, worksites)
  • Wellness programs for preventing and managing chronic conditions correlated with and including cardiovascular disease and diabetes

2. Reduce alcohol and drug use rates in youth ages 12-24

  • Decrease risk factors for alcohol and substance use
  • Increase protective factors that reduce alcohol and substance use

3. Reduce rates of community violence among youth ages 12-24

  • Decrease risk factors for aggressive behavior, inappropriate coping behaviors, poor social relationships and violence, and increase factors that protect against those behaviors.

To apply

Our grant cycle is currently closed. Information on the next grant cycle will be posted here in Winter 2011/2012.

Sponsorships

We support:

  • Local nonprofit organizations whose mission and services align closely with the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Community Benefit priority areas listed above.
  • Local community events and activities that reflect Kaiser Permanente's mission and cause, and align with the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Community Relations program through partnerships, direct sponsorships, and volunteer efforts.

Applications for sponsorships are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the year, and must be received a minimum of three months prior to the date of the event. We encourage at least six months, especially for events held in the fall (Sept-Nov).

To apply for a sponsorship, review our Request Guidelines.
