In addition to providing health care and coverage for low-income people, Kaiser Permanente's community investments include grants, sponsorships, and volunteerism.
The Sacramento North Valley area serves the Sacramento area north of Highway 50 and Rancho Cordova, eastern Yolo County, southern Placer County and western El Dorado County.
Grants
Through an in-depth community needs assessment conducted in 2010, we identified health priorities, health disparities, and barriers to health care for vuulnerable and underserved populations. The findings from this study are used to guide our contributions to the community.
Our priority needs identified for 2011 are:
- Increase access to health insurance coverage, heath care services and health education to underinsured or uninsured individuals
- Promote and engage vulnerable communities in Healthy Eating & Active Living (HEAL) through consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables and increased physical activity in community and institutional settings
- Prevention of community and family violence
