Marin Sonoma
In addition to providing health care and coverage for low-income people, Kaiser Permanente's community investments include grants, sponsorships, and volunteerism. The Marin/Sonoma Service Area supports nonprofit organizations serving urban and rural communities in both Marin and Sonoma COUNTIES.
Grantmaking priority areas:
In Marin County, Petaluma, and Sonoma Valley:
- Access to health insurance coverage and health care services
- Increase number of low-income people enrolled in or maintaining health insurance coverage
- Increase access to health care services for low-income and uninsured individuals
- Overweight and obesity
- Increase consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables
- Increase physical activity in community and institutional settings
- Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use
- Decrease high-risk alcohol and drug use
- Decrease tobacco use
- Sustainable safety net
- Support non-medical organizations that provide support services (such as case management) to vulnerable populations
- Disproportionately high rates of breast cancer
- Increase access to screening services for low-income women
- Increase access to supportive services for women with breast cancer
In Sonoma County, except Petaluma and Sonoma Valley:
- Access to health insurance coverage and health care services
- Increase number of low-income people enrolled in or maintaining health insurance coverage
- Increase access to health care services for low-income and uninsured individuals
- Overweight and obesity
- Increase consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables
- Increase physical activity in community and institutional settings
- Oral health
- Increase number of children receiving preventive dental services
- Expand availability of dental services through community clinics and other safety net providers
In 2012, the Marin Sonoma Community Benefit grant funding will be an invited process. Selected agencies will be invited to submit grant proposals. Notification to invitees will occur via phone calls or email from Andrea Michelsen, Community Benefit Manager, in late February 2012.

Sponsorships
Applications for sponsorships are accepted throughout the year. We sponsor events that meet the following criteria:
- Only nonprofit or public benefit organizations are eligible for sponsorship funding. Unincorporated groups or agencies can make arrangements to utilize an eligible nonprofit organization as a fiscal agent.
- Funds must serve vulnerable populations in Kaiser Permanente's Marin/Sonoma Service Area.
- Your organization must address one or more of the Marin/Sonoma Area community health funding priorities listed above.
