In addition to providing health care and coverage for low-income people, Kaiser Permanente's community investments include grants, sponsorships, and volunteerism.
Diablo Area supports nonprofit organizations serving Central and East Contra Costa County, as well as the Tri-Valley area of Alameda County.
Grants
Our grantmaking supports projects addressing:
1. Access to health insurance coverage and health care services
- Increase the number of low-income people enrolled in or maintaining health insurance coverage
- Increase access to health care services for low-income and uninsured individuals (primary care and early prenatal care)
2. Obesity rates
- Decrease calorie consumption (e.g., soda/sugar-sweetened beverages, portion sizes, snacking)
- Increase consumption of fruits and vegetables
- Increase physical activity in community settings (e.g., safe walking, bicycling, swimming, and other physical activities)
- Increase physical activity in institutional settings (e.g, school, after-school sites, worksites)
3. Adolescent sexual health
- Increase the number of young adults receiving Chlamydia screening and treatment
- Decrease rates of teen pregnancy

The Diablo Area is accepting proposals for 2012 until March 1, 2012. Please see our 2012 Request for Proposals brochure for more information about eligibility.
